I'm dubious about this.  IMO, よる has the standard forms of による によって have expressions in Edict for just those conjugations.  よる on its own handles all the other forms.

Not really, expressions like に対する have special entries in dictionaries (not just Edict, 新和英大辞典第５版 has に対する) because they are more common than other forms or have special usages.  You're right that we should probably have に対し, but again that's a special case.

i doubt having 'jealousy' hurts if it's a gloss toward the end.  certainly appropriate in some translations

Sankoku gives my suggested [2] and [3] under one entry, but while similar, both devices are quite distinct in form an function(one's a flexible bouncy wire, the other a rigid rod, and they are used in different performance styles).  I'm not sure squeezing them together would be an improvement.

Encountered "差し金" as the "instigation" sense. Sankoku example is だれの差しだ。 It seems something like- "who sent you" or "who put you up to this".

I would guess [4] is used almost exclusively has [person]の[差し金], as a question or a statement. "This isn't my doing", "He put you up to this didn't he", etc...
As a [n] entry, [4] will always be somewhat obtuse unless we can add an explicit 誰の差し金だ entry, which I'm not sure would be approved.

For kanji,  it looks like we may have ended up with some misleading kanji-preferences by merging these entries. The figurative sense seems to dominate ngrams, and is generally written 差し金.  But an *actual* carpenter's square seems to be more commonly written with a different kanji form. Notably 差し金 doesn't appear in the wikipedia entry on carpenter's squares (though I more and more take wikipedia with a grain of salt). 

That said, sankoku gives only 差し金 for all four senses. But really,かねじゃく【曲尺／矩尺】 seems to be the more common term for a square today. (Note this also uses the 矩 kanji).

As I see it this is derived from the speaker feeling satisfied at the misfortune to fall the spoken to (or a third party).  So using 'one' is confusing, because it doesn't make it clear that it isn't used to apply to the one speaking.

We did some major 良い/よい/いい splitting in 2014, mainly to sort out the issues around いい not inflecting.  In 2823490  Marcus has pointed out that some kokugos have 好い/いい for this entry. Perhaps that splitting went too far, although a full recombination results in a lot of restrictions. I'm putting this one back together to see how it goes. If approved 2823490 needs to be removed.

Anyway, I'm going to recommend a delete on this one.

It's completely normal that expressions be also marked as verbs. It simply indicates that they conjugate as verbs because they have one at the end. The "exp" tag makes it clear that they're not verbs in and out of themselves.

And awkward and not exceedingly common 'phrase'.  Could just delete it.
