Refs: | wikipedia entry on this fish is horrible. Claims the fish is endemic to Oceana, which is misspelled Oceania... and claims fishbase as reference:goo does a verbatum plagarism. fishbase entry is likewise confusing because it says: Eastern Central Pacific: endemic to the Hawaiian Islands and Johnston Island. Western Central Pacific: Australia How can a fish be endemic to Hawaii and Johnston, AND be in Australia? That makes absolutely no sense unless somebody in Australia let a pair loose and now its an invasive species. |
|
Comments: | Decided to stick to fishbase leading name... and name for which an obvious Japanese English pair existed. Otherwise I would also add... (short list) "kole tang; yellow-eyed surgeonfish; Yellow eye kole tang, Yellow-eye tang, Goldeneye tang, Spotted surgeonfish, Bristletoothed surgeonfish, Goldring surgeonfish, Spotted surgeonfish, spotted bristletooth surgeonfish; Slender- toothed surgeonfish, Yellow-eyed surgeonfish, Yelloweye surgeonfish, Goldring bristletooth, and Spotted bristletooth." |
