my kanwa jiten.  e.g. for this one it has what you see above (in a more readable format, obviously).  i think [oK] is largely a judgment call, and i generally don't call kanji "obsolete" unless they're actually 旧字, because in that case the kanji are obsolete by definition.

Where do you look up kanji to know if they're oK?

It's not "iK", because that tag is intended for terms where an incorrect kanji is used, but the usage is common enough to record it. An example is writing お買い徳 instead of お買い得.
Whether 咒い should have "oK" is a hard call. I'd lean towards not having it as it's a rare itaiji rather than an old/obsolete form. I'm not too fussed either way.

Just saw Rene's comment under 呪い(のろい).
Also note that Kangxi has 呪 but not 咒 (see Wiktionary for instance),
so 呪 is the original form and 咒 is a variant.
Not sure what the best way to handle this is,
but I lean towards [oK].

I'm not particularly attached to this entry but I think it has more hits than you'd think.  

Google has been under-finding on Japanese searches (recently?).  For some reason the ones that return around 400 'real' hits are particularly suspicious (don't ask me why).

Anyway, Yahoo.co.jp returns 1,000+ real hits and estimate of 17,300. (Probably divide estimate by 3 to get likely value ;-)

gikun is applied to readings, not kanji.  ideally, things like gikun would refer to mappings between readings and kanji, but as it is now i can't mark ふき as gikun only with respect to certain headwords.  and since it isn't a gikun reading with respect to the main headword, i can't label it at all.  (closest you can manage is ateji or iK on the kanji)

I tried to estimate how often the かける verbs follow the v5r conjugation
by taking KM ngrams for stem+て and stem+って.
This gave the following v5r percentages:
 翔る	74.85%
 駆ける	0.36%
 賭ける	0.27%
 掛ける	0.08%
 かける	0.04%
 懸ける	0.03%

Sorry, I overlooked that one entry is v1 and the other v5r,
so no merge. But something should be done.
It is confusing that 駆ける is listed twice with the same meaning.

Since it is usually v1, maybe 駆ける should be removed from this entry and a note be added to 1244720 that
it  can sometimes be v5r?

I wish we had a way to manage together 水温む, 水が温む, 水の温む and 水温み.
Maybe with 水が温む as the headword, and then a separate sense for each form, the form being in a kind of restriction that would be searched by search engines, and would generate a specific line in Edict. In fact, it would be exactly as if alternate forms would be in the headwords, except they wouldn't (so we wouldn't have to manage restrictions between kanji and readings) ..
