Comments: | For sense [1], since this is not terribly common by comparison, and pretty weak on cooking results, xref to the Japanese common equivalent(and not ポピーシード). Added [sK] to 罌粟粒. For whatever reason 罌粟 is not commonly used for the seeds (this or 罌粟の実). Copied "something extremely tiny" from the entry on 粟粒. I see no evidence that this should behave generically as an adj-f. There is one single character in a story "芥子粒夫人", otherwise it's 芥子粒のよう, 芥子粒ほど etc. We seem to be treating this as an [exp] and tossing out equivalent English idioms for "small things". But "like a pin's head" and "pinhead-like" only work once ほど or のよう are added. "small as ants" is likewise 芥子粒のように小さい. "芥子粒" by itself is insufficient. 芥子粒のような小さな 41 芥子粒のように小さく 33 芥子粒のように小さい 32 芥子粒のように小さな 22 This isn't adj-no either. Basically the only thing to follow の is よう: 芥子粒の 1092 芥子粒のよう 848 I think 粟粒 handled this better. As an [exp], the actual equivalent seems like it should just be "(an) ant(s)", "the head of a pin". Could maybe fix this with a [note] and a change from [n] to [exp]. [note="~ほど、~のよう"] |

Comments: | Well, personally I don't see why they wouldn't be split. Even if they have the same spelling (and even if they came from the same source word, which apparently they don't) they're still two different senses. I might agree with you if "cargo sling" and "baby sling" hadn't been added, but after that happened one sense was clearly erected to mean a kind of 'sling' that doesn't apply to 'Singapore sling'. |

Comments: | It's not really "rare". It's just not used in the real word (i.e. outside video games). But it's not widely used in gaming either. It's a character class in Final Fantasy, which explains the reasonably high n-gram count. I don't think it belongs in jmdict (or jmnedict). This is a general-purpose dictionary, not a Final Fantasy Wiki. Also, given that we have an entry for 師, the meaning isn't difficult to deduce. |

Refs: | 憤ろしい 133 dais:1 憤りを覚えるさま。腹立たしい。 http://imagict.com/ja/words/憤ろしい 憤ろしい - 和英辞典 [ 形 ] exasperating , infuriating , maddening , vexing ■ extremely annoying or displeasing yourei example: 具体的には我慢のならないほど憤ろしいことなのだった。 another: その灼やきつくような眸は、憤ろしい涙にうるんでいる。 A single example with 憤ろしい and 腹立たしい back to back (probably to mix up the vocabulary) 高田の言う通り、江崎はファウスリーゼに一方的な妄想を抱いていたようだった。それが裏切られたのが憤ろしいのだろう。腹立たしいのはファウスリーゼも同じだった。 Simple: "It is infuriating": 憤ろしいのである 太郎が眠って終っているから一人で出た。憤ろしいのである。リツ子の母が可也君の炭代を出してくれぬ。 |
|
Comments: | As a one word translation, google gives "infuriating". "憤ろしい人" doesn't exist (google). The object of 憤ろしい, when given explicitly, seems to usually be the cause of outrage, not the person feeling it. daijs gives 腹立たしい, which we gloss in this way. sankoku: 腹が立ってたまらない気持ちだ。 sankoku says 文, so I'm picking [form] over [rare]. But: 腹立たしい 196914 99.9% 憤ろしい 133 0.1% Happened to find a direct comment on this that probably applies to a lot of [rare][form]. "Haven't used once in my life, a lot of Japanese people probably couldn't even read it": https://ja.hinative.com/questions/16085136 現代の日本語としては、ほぼ使われません。僕も人生で一度も使ったことがありません。「憤ろしい」を「いきどおろしい」と読めない日本語ネイティブが多い、というくらい稀な言葉です。 かなり強めに腹を立てる感じだと思います。 This is what I would imagine as [form][rare]. We have a lot of these. Now, it seems like there is another usage. Yourei has "憤ろしい顔" and "憤ろしい涙", where it probably just means "angry face/tears" (as google translates). But "腹立たしい" will generate the same examples. |
