Comments: | Delete, as before I gave this the approval, I failed to realize that this entry was already present in identical form as jmdict 2557750 (resubmitted on July 17th by Jim, but apparently not removed from the queue of examples entries awaiting approval). I won't do it myself, as my previous comment makes me appear that I have a dog in this fight. N.B.: We should probably be getting a message saying that an entry with an identical headword/reading already exists. I know we get such a message when we submit a word anew, but we apparently don't get it when we enter via the "Edit" button. |

Comments: | this one ended up in the examples corpus... and, to be honest, i question the usefulness of including higher-level taxa (other than the obviously important ones---e.g., the ones that you're likely to find in an english, japanese or other dictionary) in edict. species names are useful; genera and up not so much. unlike 'english' species names, which come from latin, most native japanese genus names are pretty obvious. if インドシュモクザメ is an entry, then there's no real need to include インドシュモクザメ属. in the relevant japanese scientific literature they'd almost certainly attach the latin genus name anyway |

Split off [3] to a separate entry? "feline" in [1] seems unnecessary and inconsistent with other animals. "Panthera tigris" should be fine I think. |

Comments: | added kanji form, added restricted readings, added family, and information, and added another equivalent genus name. The reference (see=1517830) is incorrect, as the kanji in question DOES NOT represent the entire genus, only a very few of its species: "Common names used for several species include wormwood, mugwort, sagebrush and sagewort, while a few species have unique names, notably Tarragon (A. dracunculus) and Southernwood (A. abrotanum). Occasionally some of the species are called sages, causing confusion with the Salvia sages in the family Lamiaceae." Suggest removing cross-references and fixing the entries cross-referenced. ALSO, would it be useful to cross-reference species in genus entries? Genus in Family entries? |

Comments: | This is an unexpected sense that crops of from time to time in my translations. This time it was a heading in a table listing the purposes for which a certain marketing video was made. Context made it very clear that these were the aims of the video in question. I've also seen it before and really scratched my head about it in the past. When I thought of it in terms of "where are we going with this," it all suddenly made snese. |

For some reason, a Google search on the cross-referenced expression brings up many more Chinese-language links (at least on the first page of listings) than Japanese. The proposed expression, however, brings up more Japanese-language links on the first Google page. |

Comments: | The word refers to AR mail, which is usually designated in English by "advice of receipt" or "acknowledgment of receipt", but officially is the Universal Post Union contraction for French term "Avis de réception". I suggest to put as main definition "AR" mail, with both UPU and usual english definition of the acronym. Of course in French the matter is easier solved, I'll add an entry for it. |
