The point of the rK as I see it isn't to say "this kanji might as well not have been included in this entry at all, it's completely pointless" but to tell esp. early learners that it's quite rare and that they don't need to bother learning it by heart to feel they "know" the word in question, and also to provide guidance for reverse lookups. It's not to say they won't ever, in a lifetime of reading Japanese, possibly come across it or find reason to use it. Since we do mention it in a note on sense 2, and considering these ngrams, I'm OK with removing it, though. |

Comments: | The gloss (still) troubles me a bit. ますます really just means "more and more" and amplifies the verb/clause it works with. It's only when they refer to something declining that it gets the "decreasingly; less and less" meaning. I don't know how to bring that out in the gloss - maybe another sense with a note? |

It’s of some amusement that the same construction is now used for tourist information, rather than government announcements and laws. |

Comments: | 1) Couldn't pull up the 白板 (d: alveus) entry in the search option so I am submitting a separate entry. 2)I would suggest removing the previous definition as I haven't come up with "alveus" as a search result for that kanji in any other dictionary nor do I see the relation between the meaning of alveus (from latin: alvus - a hollow, cavity, tub, deep vessel, etc.) and the meaning of the kanji here (lit: white board/plate/plank - hardly a "deep hollow"). The closest thing I can find is 白板症 (はくばんしょう)when searching for this kanji. 3)The pronunciation of the above is up for debate. I'm simply drawing on the fact that I have heard it called はくばん in my studies of the Japanese language. Also, take this pronunciation as relative to the somewhat outdated black board 黒板 (こくばん). |

Comments: | The previous entry was it seems not well sourced nor more meaningful than a very loose sloppy meaning, and so very easily misconstrued: "doing nothing and taking things as they come" - further more this could be written in so many ways in Japanese, for example i had someone tell me a definition of, in poor, mere romaji: "nani mo shi nai" - such a poor understanding, so loose in meaning, and so easily misconstrued. IMHO this yojijukugo (四字熟語), most often gets used in Buddhist terms- idioms. I'm not a professional Japanese translator at all, rather a devoted scholar and practitioner of 無と無為と無分別と...の哲学 と 自然農法 etc. |
