I wasn't saying that Brian made a poor case, only that this seems rather A+B. I think the problem is that our current entry for 厨 somewhat inadequate. The Nicovideo encyclopedia describes two etymologies for 〜厨 (中防 and 中毒) and mentions that the latter is sometimes used self-referentially. I'm not fussed about keeping this entry, but it might be mostly redundant if we improved our entry for 厨. If anyone is interested in researching it more, that might be a good entry to work on. |

I'm not sure it's needed either, but it's harmless, and possibly useful. |

厨 is a productive suffix, and we already have an entry for it. I'm not sure this entry is necessary now that we also have an entry for ハピエン. |

What I'm seeing on Twitter is mainly self-referential. Even if it's meant self-deprecatingly, I don't think the derog tag is justified. |

After reading quite a lot, I'll vote to leave this as [derog] unless/until I get some direct native feedback. |

こんにちは!
すみません、「ハピエン厨」は英語で何ですか?? とはどういう意味ですか?
It means happy ending addicts. In other words, they are people who can't bear unless the story ends happily.

We currently have *all* of the *厨 entries marked as [derog]. Some of those seem questionable.
I'm sure ハピエン厨 could kind of be an insult? Maybe? But [derog] feels like a bit much... Seems to be often, perhaps usually, used self-referentially.
I had "prefers stories with happy endings", but that's clearly not strong enough. 厨 = addict/fanatic. Maybe there is another phrasing... |
