| Comments: | I don't think that contradicts anything I said. "この" in that sentence is just a substitute for the entire previous sentence. We have "この" tagged as "pre-noun adjectival (rentaishi)" in JMdict. The point is that you wouldn't start that sentence with just "状況下" by itself. It would need to be "この状況下," "ある状況下," "ニュースが大量に流れてくる状況下," etc. |

| Comments: | "not used on its own" is what I meant to say. I'm not sure what those links are supposed to show. The Wiktionary example is "非常に寒い状況下で車を洗車することになった". The Weblio thesaurus simply lists 状況下 alongside other synonyms (状況下で, 状況の下, 状況に置かれて, 状況において). None of those expressions would be suitable as entries. |
