Does this help? For the record, the reason I recommended my boi do this submission was seeing a kimagure cook video and wondering what this black thing the man was cutting out and calling the ウロ was. I couldn't tell you if it's ever used for the hepatopancreas of any other bivalve/animal, but I think it's clearly what's going on in the scallop case. |

I think that's just referring to the hollow/cavity meaning of うろ. No reference I can find equates ウロ with Hepatopancreas. We need something more authoritative than a food page. |
