The term "needle-punch carpet" is used in English. I suspect the Japanese パンチカーペット come from this rather than being strictly wasei. Of course, the English term is more general; not just tough synthetics.

ーペットのことで、ニードルパンチカーペットとも呼ばれています。」

パンチカーペット seems to be available in both rolls and tiles.
