We normally don't include the Japanese at all unless it's reasonably common. "bubuzuke" isn't reasonably common in English (or honestly,
even in kyb). |

I thought it was appropriate to have "bubuzuke" in the gloss somewhere. |

ぶぶ漬けでもいかがどす 144 |
|
Comments: |
I really think that's putting too much onto the word itself, which AFAICT is used far more often without that nuance, and hence that usage note is misleading. Perhaps if there was an entry for something like ぶぶ漬けでもいかがどす the nuance could be recorded there. |

Can we keep it as a note? I feel this is important cultural nuance to understand this expression. |

Koj: ぶぶ‐づけ【ぶぶ漬】 (京阪地方で)茶漬。
http://www.bbc.com/travel/story/20120508-local-flavour-on-kyotos-kiyamachi-street - "... when a Kyoto native asks if a guest wants to eat bubuzuke, it really means that the person has overstayed and is being politely asked to leave." |
|
Comments: |
Re "implying it's time for the guest to leave", I don't really think it's a meaning of the term. It's the offering that's the implication; not the bubuzuke itself. |
