All the refs say it means fireman. I think ファイヤーマン, etc. should be added to the ファイアマン entry. I'll propose that, and if approved this version can be deleted. |

I encountered it as a product name for a
fireman costume for kids, not related to
the TV show - see google images for ファイ
ヤーマン コスチューム. Any other dictionary
user might easily encounter it in this
context. |

Looks like it usually refers to a TV show/character. I can't find any evidence that it's used to mean 消防士 (except in product names).
