Refs: | after some pondering and consulting with wiki, daij and google images, I think these don't refer to what's known as "mani stones" in English, though it came from the same Sanskrit word. "mani stone" on google images show rocks with Tibetan inscriptions on them while there's no mention of any inscriptions in any of the refs for any of the 摩尼 variants (i.e. ~宝珠 etc.) and google images for 摩尼 show a lot of drop-shaped gemstones. |
