It seems 箒木 and 箒草 are the same plant, but the ホウキギ "reading" can't go with the 箒草 kanji form. I can't see 箒草 anywhere in the passage you quoted. |

No, the author whose book I was translating was using kocchia/tonburi as a way to describe the arabic food couscous. That led to a google search which gave me the information I posted earlier. Of course,
the author may not have entirely known what she was saying. The book is "Golden Time 6", published in 2013 or so.
