no, an old-fashioned donut is one that uses cake batter instead of yeast-based dough. usually served plain, or topped with glaze or granulated sugar. the top left one in this image is old-fashioned (also the bottom right is a chocolate old-fashioned); all the rest of the donuts in there are made with yeast dough:

discussed this word with a native speaker today, after seeing
it on a package of donuts (yamazaki brand). she said "that's
what these kind of donuts are called". google results aren't
all that convincing though (not sure how widely it's used
except for the name of this one product) |
