| Comments: | Saw as 雲白肉片 （ウンパイローピェン） today, with explanation (it’s not very familiar, but not rare). The shorter 雲白肉 is more common. I’ve distinguished the glosses slightly with “sliced”, as that’s the emphasis here. Ostensibly this should be from Chinese 云白肉片 (yún bái ròu piàn), but that gets virtually no hits, so it looks like a Japanese formation on Chinese roots. I don’t think we mark these specifically (it looks like modern 和製漢語), so it’s clearer to refer to the form that is used in Chinese. |
