does it really make sense to call this a "form" of してはいけない? だめ i conpletely unrelqted to いけない (except in meaning) so the phrasing seems off. |

Better to have an entry on the less obvious part. しちゃだめ is VERY common (26M hits). Meaning is pretty clear.
GG5: ここで犬死にしちゃだめだ. Don't die for nothing in this place.
GG5: あんな乱暴な子と親しくしちゃだめよ. Don't make friends with [Don't get in with, Keep clear of] those rough boys.
Tanaka: 不用意に秘密を洩らしちゃだめだよ。 Don't spill the beans.
Tanaka: お酒飲んだんだから、車の運転しちゃだめよ。 You can't drive. You've been drinking. |

Whilst you are considering this submission, I am wondering if you may wish to include a separate entry for "ちゃ" and "じゃあ", which I understand is simply a contraction of "ては" and "では". You have a range of similar contractions, e.g., "しまう" contracted to "ちゃう". |

This expression which I read and looked up on your site, but could not find, gets over 6m hits on google. Perhaps it should be included.
I cannot find "しちゃ" anywhere at the moment, but I guess you can explain it as a contraction of something. The rest of the expression is clear to me. And Goolge hits show its usage.
The meaning suits my reading, but it is also shown on Google in similar forms |
