I wouldn't consider this an idiom. It's a standard use of 輝かす. The kokugos don't have entries for 目を輝かす/目を輝かせる. |

I think this should be glossed as a verb.
目を輝かせる should be a separate entry. It's not a form of 輝かす, it's the (other) causative form of 輝く. |

It's labelled as an expression, which is correct. The v5s is indicating the inflection class of the verb part (輝かす).
It's not easy to gloss - most dictionaries have things like "目を輝かせて with one's eyes aglow" (GG5). |
