Possibly useful to keep. I'm wondering about the "ではなかろう" mentioned in the above quote. GG5 has:
それについて一言述べておくのも無駄ではなかろう. A few words may not be amiss in this connection.
いまどき私心のない政治家なんて, 鉦や太鼓で探しても見つからないのではなかろうか. Nowadays I don't think you could find a selfless politician however 「hard you looked [desperately you hunted for one].
We probably should have an entry for "ではなかろう", at least in the glossing kana dictionary. |

AFAIK, this is standard かり活用, no dic has an entry for it. かりかつよう does not correspond to what we're calling v5aru in any case (e.g. does not use い as an imperative form as in くださるー>ください or なさるー>なさい) |
