Possibly useful to keep. I'm wondering about the "ではなかろう" mentioned in the above quote. GG5 has:
それについて一言述べておくのも無駄ではなかろう. A few words may not be amiss in this connection.
いまどき私心のない政治家なんて, 鉦や太鼓で探しても見つからないのではなかろうか. Nowadays I don't think you could find a selfless politician however 「hard you looked [desperately you hunted for one].
We probably should have an entry for "ではなかろう", at least in the glossing kana dictionary.

AFAIK, this is standard かり活用, no dic has an entry for it.  かりかつよう does not correspond to what we're calling v5aru in any case (e.g. does not use い as an imperative form as in くださるー>ください or なさるー>なさい)
