I don't think there's any real difference between "usu." and "esp." here but we do tend to use "esp." in cases like this. I don't object to the change. |

I think "usu." as an abbreviation of "usually" is fine. Nothing weird about it. I'd prefer to stay with the gloss Robin did in 2019. Ditto in 格闘ゲーム. |

beat'em up and fighting games are not the same
beat'em up has the player character battling 1-4 enemies at a time. the enemies sort of just come by as you are walking down the street. they are much weaker than you
it's a single-player game but multiplayer is possible with cooperative mode

fighting games are player against another player (or computer) on an arena. the player characters are equally powerful and usually fight multiple rounds
examples are the street fighter series, king of fighters series, mortal kombat series
