taking that at face value, the mistaken 3蜜 account for roughly 3% of all site:go.jp instances of the word. That's quite a lot.

I agree we shouldn't include 制度 as an iK form of 精度, but I'm not so sure it's obvious the writer always knows ３蜜 is wrong here, 
the characters are very similar. It's also not like ３蜜 has another (obvious) meaning like 制度 does. I think it's a form that our 
users are quite likely to come across, so including it would be helpful.

I don't think the iK tag was intended for obvious typos. People select the wrong kanji in their IME all the time. We wouldn't include 制度 as an iK form of 精度. I don't think a 変換ミス can be considered "irregular kanji" if the writer knows it's wrong.

I'm not adamant we include it, but I wasn't 
aware we're avoiding "obvious typos" - are we, 
really? The point of including them, as I see 
it, is to help people who happen upon them to 
understand what they're typos for.

I don't mind including as iK, but in this case it seems to be a typo for 三蜜, AFAICT from WWW hits. Perhaps we need a 三蜜 entry.

We don't usually include obviously incorrect IME mistakes as iK. It's very unlikely someone would intentionally use 蜜 instead of 密 so I think it should be ignored.

Hmmm. Not really trivia.
Having pushed for a merge I now feel a little uncomfortable about it but I think it can stay for now.

It's the sort of information I'd expect to see in an EJ dictionary that listed English buzzwords. The entry feels incomplete without it.

I'm not convinced COVID-19 needs to be mentioned. It's too topical. "Infectious diseases" is sufficiently broad, accurate and will save us the trouble of having to fix this entry again next year.

Given that sense 1 is usually ３密 and sense 2 is always 三密, I'm not sure these should be merged.
If they are merged, I wouldn't put the new sense first. ３密 isn't much more than a buzzword/slogan at this point. News organisations still put it in quotation marks. Another reason I think it would look better as a separate entry.
I still think it's worth mentioning where the term came from. How about this?
