I agree it's relatively straightforward, but the nuances of the meanings are not immediately obvious, so I'm happy for it to stay. Common terms like this which have been in the dictionary for a long time (in this case 9 years) should not be eliminated without there being a good reason.

Sorry to reopen, but isn't this just an example of the -てくれる construction?
