OK, I'm going with Marcus' suggestion. |

I agree it doesn't look right having a list of species under one sense, and I'm not convinced it's necessary to mention them at all (except maybe one or two as examples). |

I don't think we should have to do a note here. What I reacted to is that this is not how we usually do these entries. Each line has
a completely separate gloss that's not compatible with the others. If we split each gloss into a separate sense, I think that would
be closer to what we normally do, but I'm not really sure I think that's the best approach either. if we want to include all these
latin names, shouldn't the first line be something like
hairy mite (in reference to a large number of species including Trombidiidae spp., Erythraeoidea spp., Trombiculidae spp.,
Tetranychidae spp., Cheyletidae spp.)
but my preference would be a much simpler
hairy mite (esp. red velvet mite)
or
hairy mite (esp. red velvet mite, Trombidiidae spp.) |

I think I prefer Rene's original. Perhaps we could keep his glosses and start with "catch-all term for hairy (preferably red) mites" or similar. |

seems to be a catch-all for hairy (preferably red) mites, but the primary meaning is clearly 'velvet mite' |
