We settled a while ago on using "rīchi" but since some common sites also use "riichi" we'd better have both.
We have 8 entries using "riichi" in their glosses and 6 using "rīchi". I propose to change them all to "rīchi". |

Probably useful to have the romaji version. Can someone change this to i-macron? I can't

リーチ in mahjong is specifically sense 1, while according to the wiki ref, sense 2 can be used very generally (転用 section). Keeping the two glosses together implies that it's used more generally in mahjong than it is according to the refs and my experience. |

Merge from 1140630 – “being one step away from winning” (generally) is just another use of this term, and is unrelated to various English words.
(Admittedly, “reach = 1 step from winning” is a plausible-seeming folk etymology.) |
