That looks good to me. For these sorts of things a basic gloss works well. People can dig further elsewhere if needed. |

We currently have five law entries with "abbr. of ..." notes. I propose the following:
Drop the notes and abbr tags. Revert to the short names. If needed, include a short description of the law. If the name is used to refer to more than one law, list the years they were enacted in brackets. |

but... this format is different from all other law entries as we don't normally explain the contents/intention of the law, nor give the year it was enacted. (some older entries did have that info but I've beem stripping them of it). |

I don't think there's a problem with "New Ainu Law", as that's what "アイヌ新法" means. It's not the gloss that's dated.
I think this format is OK. Wikipedia describes it as a "通称" as opposed to an abbreviation.
Wikipedia says that アイヌ新法 also refers to a newer law passed in 2019 (that replaced the 1997 one). Not sure how we want to incorporate this. A second sense? |

I'm not married to calling it an abbr, but I do feel it is one, even if the word 新 doesn't appear in the full name. What would you call it in the note, then? Or did you want to remove the note too?
I agree with Jim that calling it the "New Ainu Law" in English seems a little weird considering the law isn't exactly new any longer. But I think the issue of formatting these entries isn't entirely straightforward, I'm not really sure what's best. |

I preferred the old style. I don't think we need a translation of the full name.
I also don't think the abbr tag is needed here. アイヌ新法 is a separate term. There's no "新" in the full name. |
