However that Wikipedia page and many others are referring to the Japanese style of 借景, so it's really the literal translation being recycled. I think it's best avoided.

I think "borrowed scenery" gets quite a bit of usage in 
English though?
There's the wiki article, and lots of relevant hits on google 
books. It is what it is usually translated as, so it might be 
worth keeping.
