Indeed. When 何 is read なん, it typically means "how many". Compare 何人/なんにん with 何人/なにじん. |

This was prompted by a friend being told by some japanese people it was absolutely read なにざ and not なんざ. I can't find a dictionary that has it, but youglish seems to confirm their opinion. |
