Thanks! It's a big improvement (imho).
"Clutter" or "messiness" is a price we pay with all larger (i.e., more detailed) dictionaries, but sending text data is cheap nowadays, so i'd rather err on the side of too much info... :-) |

OK, what I did was merge the name information at the back of the non-name entry (usually EDICT). It resulted in about 20,000 merges, i.e. of the 608k entries in the glossing version of enamdict, 20k are merged and 588k are there solo.
It will make the Text-glossing deplays marginally messier, but less will miss out. |

Indeed. And if you encounter 清水 it is much more likely to refer to someone called Shimizu than to spring water.
This is something I need to do something about, e.g by merging the name entries with the main glossing entries where the kanji forms match. There are other approaches which might be less messy. I'll leave the entry edit open to remind me. |

Hi! I bet that when one finds 種子島 in a text, in all but very few cases it is a reference to the island south of Kyushu and not to the old weapon. However, since the above expression is in JEDIC, when one uses "Text Glossing", the more likely meaning from ENAMDIC is not shown. Is it possible to show both meanings or, if not, to reverse the preference in this case? |
