Here's the J-J definition:

I don't agree with the poster, I don't think our glosses are actually wrong and I don't think the "nuance" described in the J-J definition 
of "normally when you put something in your eye it hurts, but..." is necessary, but this part "何でも無批判に受け入れる" should maybe be 
worked in there somehow. There's probably No need to use eye-based glosses either considering the Japanese usage is so different.
