I don't particularly like it. As a resident of "Oceania" I can assure you that most of my country-people don't use (or even know) the term. Try telling someone living in Alice Springs, several thousand km from the sea, that they live in "Oceania". I'd never heard the term until my first trip to Japan in 1981, and Japanese business people I spoke to started using it and were surprised to learn it was a local construction (unless you read Orwell.)
