Marcus, what I meant is that 社民党 is always a name. I thought that you were suggesting that it can also be used in a more generic sense (e.g. "I want to join a social democratic party"). |

I've seen it referred to the Swedish Social Democratic Party a bunch of times though, and that's despite the fact their full name is usually
given as 社会民主労働党 in the same text:

I think "社民党" is just an abbreviation for "社会民主党" (rather than a general term for social democratic parties).
We probably don't want a sense for every party with 社会民主党 in its name so I'd stick with one sense. |
