It is an odd one in that the parts mean plump + plump. That said, the two forms get over 20,000 n-gram counts between them, GG5 uses it in 7 sub-entries/examples, etc. etc. It's plainly a stock expression. I'd rather it were kept. |

Re: と is not present in the expression when used in a recent
movie called かもめ食堂, so proposing an alternative reading.
JB: 丸々太った can't be in this entry as both the kanji and reading parts are different. I'll add a new entry and cross-refs. |
