OK, I should probably have checked around a bit further
(concerning kids etc.). That said, this is in the jawiki
article on 結婚 I linked to:
So maybe "getting married" should be a 2nd [col]-tagged
sense instead?

新和英中辞典: 籍を入れる〔抜く〕 have a person's name entered in 〔removed from〕 the family register
  Comments:
籍を入れる feels a bit odd. GG5 has one example with it, and a couple with 籍に入れる. There are plenty of Google hits for both. The 中辞典 example above doesn't mention spouses.
I can see examples of 籍に入れる being used for children, e.g.:
(Blog above).
I suspect your qualification is not really appropriate. I also think if this one stays, we should have 籍に入れる too.
You have quite a choice of particles.)

I was thinking it might be used to add new-born kids' names
to the registry as well but I dunno, google came up with
stuff like this:
http://oshiete.goo.ne.jp/qa/4696870.html
Maybe the English gloss should be rephrased and only refer
to the marriage sense
