Disconnecting the sense of this term from the xref. "slim" has a strong "healthy" connotation, which this term seems to lack, and "slim" is also by far the most common gloss for the xref.
We could put 100 synonyms for "thin" on this gloss, but it doesn't seem like "slim" has any special association with this term.
This isn't quite [rare], perhaps, but it is quite uncommon. It is not in sankoku. More than half of its uses are in the 4-character compound 長身痩躯 (a reference explicitly pointed this out, saying it's almost exclusively used in the 4-character-compound, but this seems like a little bit of an overstatement).

jmdict doesn't usually link 4-character-compound components back to the compound (燕雀 and 鴻鵠 do not point at 燕雀鴻鵠, even though that might be their primary use), but in this case the connotation of the person indicated by 痩躯 is often tied to that indicated by 長身痩躯, and 長身痩躯 might frequently be more useful to the person examining this entry. |
