I think of it as an example of 本式 as a 形容動詞 being used adverbally, i.e. 本式に is an adverb, just like 静かに.

No, I meant, is 本式に an example of 本式　being used as a noun
or of 本式 being used as a na-adjective?
It could be viewed as the adverb form of the na-adjective 本式な.
Or it could be viewed as just the noun 本式 followed by a particle.
