Comments: | No problem with "handrail" - GG5 uses it. The example really doesn't make it clearer. |

Comments: | Clarify defn: * make “railing” first – balustrade is a bit technical; formally it refers to a western design with many vertical elements, which is not common in (traditional) Japanese architecture; daijr has a good illustration * give examples * remove “banister”/“bannister”, which (as per WP/WT) specifically refers to *stairs* (dicts don’t mention stairs; that’s instead generally 手摺 “handrail”, AFAICT). * Remove “handrail” also as more appropriate to 手摺 * add other sense of “armrest” (Saw used to refer to railing around temple building, written as 勾欄.) |
