Comments: | I think it really comes down to frequency of use for senses. We've followed the usual approach in modern dictionaries of having the senses in frequency order. We have the [lit] tag to highlight cases where they differ significantly. In this case I don't think it's an issue, but when there's a common figurative sense and a rare literal sense, I'd really think it's most appropriate for the common one to lead. |
