This is formally a “pergola”, hence fronted. ja:WP gives 藤棚 as the archetypal Japanese example of a パーゴラ (pergola). “trellis” is common, though ambiguous (more precisely vertical structure, w/o the vines trailing), and “arbor” is also used, again v. ambiguous (more generally a bunch of trees). |
