also, the OED does not attempt to be a source for the most recent usage of a word, rather AFAIK, they track to track down the original usage and any development over time. the sense in question is not marked as archaic, disused, or even rare |

i really don't think there's anything wrong with keeping 'deposition' here as a secondary gloss. |

Notwithstanding the fact that "deposition" is in GG5's definition of 預託, I don't think it's helpful to use that word.
.
Although the OED does have, in its entry for "deposition", one sense relating to the depositing of money or valuables,* the most recent usage example in OED for that sense is dated 1817.
* OED: depositon
[...]
(7) 7. The placing of something in a repository, or in charge of a person, for safe keeping; concr. a deposit.
1817 T. R. Malthus Ess. Princ. Population (ed. 5) III. vi. vii. 279 Every fresh deposition [in a savings bank].
[There are also two older examples, dated 1592 and 1651.]
.
The following dictionaries do not include a "depositing money" sense in their entries for "deposition":
Encarta
Merriam-Webster

i don't think it's an NA english thing, but yes, this should be altered to indicate that 'deposition' means 'deposit', not 'depose' |

I think it is safe to say that the majority of J-E translation is into American English, and with that in mind i'd like to suggest an amendment, since in NA "deposition" is not usually used in the sense of 預託 but in the sense of 供述 or 沈殿. For anything along the lines of 預け入れ, 供託, or 預託 we say "deposit". |
