[vt] came from meikyo. The other smaller kokugos that I have (smk, sankoku, iwakoku, obunsha) only have [vi].

I think this is more literary/formal than [rare]. Wouldn't expect to see many usages on twitter. Sankoku has a 〔文〕 tag (although it seems to use that tag far more frequently than other refs).

[rare], remove [vt]

Came here because I am suspicious of vi,vt entries. sankoku specifically says vi, and has both senses. daijs online doesn't specify.

But in the daij entry, it gives 「将来を―される」for sense [1], which is not a transitive use of する, but of させる, which we would not generally mark as vt in jmdict. (This is a discussion I'd like to have someday, but not on this term)

There is also a third definition to do with improvising poetry or music off-the-cuff in daijs. I spent a lot of time thinking about clarifying the glosses, but 嘱目 is super rare. I saw a news article give a full definition of the term, others put it in 「」 and add furigana, and twitter posts are mostly bots offering definitions (like, "advanced SAT vocabulary"), not-so-common in the wild. 嘱目されている appears on twitter about once per *year*.

(you can find the offhanded transitive をする use of this verb in the wild, but random people will add をする to anything).
