I guess that gets around the problem that "miscellaneous school" is rather meaningless as an English gloss.

but the definition for this is something that's neither a regular school nor a vocational school:  学校教育法第一条に定める学校（小学校・中学校・高等学校など）および専修学校以外のもので (daijr)
a driving school is a 各種学校, some cramming schools are too, but you wouldn't refer to either as a vocational school. "miscellaneous school" is maybe a little impenetrable but "vocational school" is wrong, esp. as the first gloss

Despite the "official" legal translation, "miscellaneous school" doesn't really mean much in English and shouldn't be the only or even leading gloss. I like GG5's "vocational school".
