| Comments: | The counts are not contradictory - the n-gram collections are based on aggregating morphemes. です is usually treated as a single morpheme so something like "なんでいつもこうなっちゃうんだろう" is split "なん+で+いつ+も+こ...", whereas "勉強中なんです" is split "勉強+中+な+ん+です". Thus the counts are based on different passages (the non-public Google n-grams collection has the same 2:1 ratio.) I'm inclined to go with your "uk" as it is. I'll leave this open for a day or so to enable others to see the morpheme split description above. |

| Comments: | I'm not sure how to check how many of those are 〜なんです and whether the n-grams reflect that (1,4M for なんです vs 930k for なんで seems contradictory) - I'm also not sure whether sense 2 should be [uk]; I'd personally write it with kanji. |
