at the moment they're added on an "add it if you think it's worthwhile basis". however, okurigana are often dropped when compounds are formed, so i think there needs to be evidence that 湯沸 is used relatively commonly as a standalone
if an okurigana variant isn't in daijr/daijs (some of the only reliable dictionaries for okurigana), then generally it is marked [io] |

If we were to include no-okurigana forms of every compound noun (組み合わせ→組合、書き換え→書換) the database would be crammed. So I guess this is
rather a task for interfaces (jisho.org, etc.), not for the database. But either way this should be made clear in the editorial policy. |

In compounds like 湯沸器 and 湯沸所, both okurigana may be omitted. Does this mean we should include 湯沸 as a kanji spelling? (likewise for 組合) |
