It seems all cases can be summarized by the rule
"place [nokanji] readings at the end".
The editorial policy document could be be made a bit clearer;
it gives the impression that this only applies to names of biological species.

No it goes at the back. Partly as a matter of style, but more importantly it's emphasising that ぶっだ & ぶつだ are the readings of 仏陀, and ブッダ really stands alone.
Could be "uk".
