I guess that in an "abundance of caution" the tag can go back. Yes, it's really the nasty 穢多 ateji that's a problem. I see my Google keyboard offers it as a choice for えた.

It certainly is sensitive because the descendants of the eta live on. It's not disconnected from the present. 
No IME will bring up 穢多 for the input えた.

I don't think something this old can be sens. But it probably shouldn't be tagged as derog either. It was an official term; the kanji made it derogatory.
