Comments: | The "sometimes" might better be "originally". As for ん, that's already a headword in 2139720, where sense 3 says "abbr. of particle "no"". So searching for it gets you to the right place. The entry for の is complicated enough already, and we've split 乃/之 to declutter it. I think keeping ん apart too is appropriate. |

Comments: | shouldn't "ん" be a headword/reading? rather than just a note? "sometimes written 乃 or 之" should maybe be rephrased too (it's not the case of "sometimes" as much as it's the case of "back in the good ol' days") |

Comments: | We probably need to regularize whether these "sentence end" annotations go at the start of end of the gloss. At present they are all over the place. |

Comments: | * Move “at sentence-end” into text, instead of [note], since Latin characters * Add “at sentence-end” to [4] “confident conclusion” * Add notes on tone (rising, falling) |

Comments: | -because ん isn't being applied to all senses, it would make a mess of restrictions. ん has its own entry that used to redirect here, but the x-ref seems to have been lost -as the past participle, i think that 'written' is sufficiently vague about timing. and they are still used today depending on context (tombstones, etc.) |

Comments: | There is a separate entry http://www.edrdg.org/jmdictdb/cgi-bin/entr.py?svc=jmdict&sid=&q=2270030.1 that is a 'redirect' entry pointing to here. Presumably that was done because 乃 is going to be confusing to many people learning Japanese (heck, probably a bunch of people who _are_ Japanese as well ;-) I suggest that instead the kanji headword should be moved from this (main) entry to the 'redirect' entry. 国語 dictionaries typically won't have an entry for 乃, but have の without a kanji headword. NOTE: I can't actually remove the kanji headword 乃 until the x-ref pointing here is removed. |
