I think the amendment is kind of problematic because while
many native speakers will assume that 人身事故 refers to a
suicide, it is actually used for all kinds of traffic
accidents resulting in personal injury or death, whether
intentional suicide or not. It's not a euphemism, it's an
umbrella term. |

Note on rail suicide: per ja:WP that’s the usual cause, and
in English this is generally treated as a euphemism.
I’ve always heard this treated as a euphemism in Japanese as
well. |
