Comments: | Thanks for going over this. It's a rather fine line in places. |

Comments: | so i think three entries may be best rather than a full merge. but i can go either way - 上下[じょうげ] [1][n] top and bottom;high and low;above and below;upper and lower ends;up and down [2][n,vs] going up and down; rising and falling; fluctuating [3][n] upper and lower classes;ruler and ruled [4][n] first and second volumes [5][n,vs] going and coming back - 上下[うえした,かみしも] [1][n] top and bottom;up and down;high and low;above and below;upper and lower ends [2][adj-no,n][うえした][see=上下になる] upside-down - 上下[しょうか,じょうか] [1][n,vs] top and bottom;up and down;high and low;above and below;upper and lower ends [1][n][しょうか] upper and lower classes;ruler and ruled |

Comments: | i was looking at this entry the other day trying to figure out how to handle it, but it seemed like too much of a pain to deal with at the time... i'll look at it again some time this afternoon |

Comments: | I see we have separate entries for 上下: うえした, じょうげ and しょうか (and かみしも, but that's a bit different...) GG5 also has じょうか. It (GG5) says じょうげ, しょうか and じょうか are the same (it makes じょうげ the primary one) so I think some merging is in order. We at present have うえした and じょうげ with the same meaning, so a largish merge may be in order. Daijirin generally has じょうげ as a meaning, but seems to have some subtle differences between them. My inclination is to have a grand merge of all of them, with some sense restrictions and "esp. ..." as appropriate. |
