Meaning #3 indicates it's a mathematics term, but it can also be used as "vanishing" in a non-math context, as in the example sentence, and also in the book I'm reading.  But I don't know if the domain field is meant to indicate a meaning is exclusively in that domain, or if that domain is one particular use of it. So I'll leave it to you to change if appropriate.
