I had the same thought but Wikipedia's article on strabismus starts with "Strabismus, also called crossed eyes among other terms".
I agree it could be confusing though so probably best to leave it out. |

not appropriate at all, IMO. strabismus also applies to "wall eyes" (i.e., external strabismus), which is the opposite of crossed eyes
also, 'squint' is potentially misleading |

I would like to add the gloss "cross-eyed".
("squint" has other meanings besides the one intended here.
"strabismus" is a rather technical term.)
But it seems you are not supposed to mix POS in the glosses.
However, "cross-eye" or "cross-eyedness" do not seem very natural.
Is it OK to add "cross-eyed"? |
